Emmitt Smith played with Allen between 1994 and 2002 and was clearly distraught talking about the passing of his friend on an Instagram video.
Sitting on my back patio, I’m thinking back on one of the best offensive linemen I have ever seen. My daughter Skylar calls Larry Allen and me saying he passed away. One thing about Larry Allen, I know, he had a big heart and he enjoyed life to the fullest. I’m at a loss for words, such a good dude, amazing player, super person. On the football field, a man of extremely few words was a beast and will be dearly missed.

Troy Aikman responded on X, formerly Twitter, complimenting Allen on his behavior both on and off the field.
