The 2024 Olympics did not sparkle as fiercely as Alica Schmidt had imagined.

Often referred to as the “world’s HOTTEST athlete,” the German track standout missed the women’s 4×400-meter relay with a seventh-place performance in Friday’s second heat.

The blonde stunner watched her Paris campaign come to an end with just the top four teams in the first and second heats qualifying for Saturday’s final.

While Jamaica, the heat winners reached the finish line at 3:24.92, Schmidt and her three colleagues timed 3:26.95.
Ireland and Canada grabbed spots in the final as the respective third and fourth place finishers; the Dutch quartet finished second.

Though Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was absent, Team USA won the first heat and posted the quickest time—3:21.44.

Great Britain, France, Belgium, also qualified.

Schmidt, who has more than seven million followers on Instagram and TikHub, ran in the mixed 4×400-meter relay last week; Team Germany came eighth and was then eliminated.

With some of her countrymen complaining about the choice to place her in the relay, the 25-year-old found herself in some apparently team controversy.

“Yes, on paper I am the second quickest 400m athlete. No, I was not selected for the mixed relay; Luna Bulmahn, a teammate, stated on a since-deleted Instagram post.
Bulmahn’s boyfriend, German sprinter Jean Paul Bredau, also participated in the mixed relay alongside Schmidt and apparently expressed his dismay about the lineup.

“A few choices were taken that nobody approved of. The fastest four shall run, the DLV [German Athletics Association] made rather plain. Another choice was taken; he posted on Instagram then erased.

Bulmahn was kicked from the women’s 4×400-meter squad whereas Bredau apologized for his remarks and was let to run in the relay.
Jean Paul Bredau has apologized and will run the 400-meter solo race. Luna Bulmahn will not be included into the Paris relay. Relays belong to a team sport. Forming this team are the coaches and athletes. Good teamwork and mutual trust among everybody are what define success, the DLV said in a Tuesday statement.
