For the first time since declaring it, USA gymnast Jordan Chiles has publicized her hiatus from social media. Chiles shared in a long statement posted on social media what she perceived the last week and more had been like following the International Olympic Committee stripping of her Olympic bronze medal.
“I had faith in the appeal presented by the USAG, who provided definite proof my score complied with regulations,” Chiles stated. This appeal came back down. I don’t know what to say. Not only does it hurt me, but this feels very unfair, and the decision is going to affect everyone who has supported my path.
“I am currently at one of the most difficult career turning points. Let me tell you, I have been through many. I shall take up the task as I have others and shall do everything possible to ensure that justice is done. Hopefully, by the end of this journey, people in charge will have morale enough to do what is right.”
The entire medal-stripping controversy got embroiled in debate as USAG furnished video proof that the score inquiry that gave Chiles bronze in the floor exercise at the 2024 Paris Olympics was conducted within the proper time.
It has only just been announced that within the CAS three-member panel is a lawyer with Romanian connections, thus there is a conflict of interest since it was a Romanian gymnast, Ana Barbosu, who received Chiles’ gold.
